Seperti halnya KH. Ainul Yaqin, sosok kiai ahlul Qur’an sederhana yang tidak menampakkan penampilannya seperti kiai pada umumnya. KH. Ainul Yaqin atau yang oleh masyarakat akrab dipanggil Mbah Yaqin merupakan anak ke 3 dari 7 bersaudara dari pasangan Abdul manan dan Salma.
Lelaki yang juga kerap disapa Kiai Yaqin ini lahir di Jombang, 24 Oktober 1970. Jika dilihat dari nasab jalur ibunya, Kiai Yaqin masih termasuk keturunan Joko Tingkir. Tak heran, di samping menguasai ilmu agama, ia juga sangat mahir dalam ilmu persuwukan. Yang mana dalam ilmu ini, tanpa dipelajari pun sudah menjadi naluri dan keturunan dari para pendahulunya.

“Dulu ketika di Pondok Pesantren Madrasatul Qur’an (PPMQ), ketika ada liga santri, saya selalu dicari untuk memberikan suwuk agar gawangnya tidak bisa dibobol,” kata Kiai Yaqin saat di wawancarai pada Senin, (28/02).
Dalam proses belajar, orang tuanya selalu mengedepankan pendidikan agama dan moral. Tak heran, sejak kecil, Kiai Yaqin sudah ditekankan untuk belajar dan mengaji pada ulama’ dan guru sekitar rumahnya.
Memasuki usia remaja, ia sudah menjadi santri kalong di Pondok Pesantren Sunan Bonang Mojowarno untuk mengkaji kitab kuning kepada KH. Jalaludin. Sembari belajar kitab kuning, ia juga menimba ilmu Al-Quran kepada Kiai Fauzil Asy’ari yang bertempat tidak jauh dari kediamannya.
Setelah belajar kepada para kiai sekitar, Mbah Yaqin barulah memulai mengahafal Al-Qur’an di Pondok Pesantren Tebelo Malang. Ia mampu mengkhatamkan dengan sempurna dalam kurun waktu 2 tahun.
Semenjak menjadi santri di Malang, ia sering kali menemukan hal-hal yang dirasa aneh dan menurutnya merupakan pesan yang harus ia lakukan dalam proses menghafal.
Salah satunya ialah ketika ia membasahi lisannya dengan Al-Qur’an, seketika muncul seorang laki-laki dari sungai kecil yang habis qadlil hajat, kemudian menghampirinya sembari berkata, “Dulu Kiai Mujahid (kiai karismatik di Tebelo) selalu mendawamkan, membaca Al-Qur’an khatam setiap seminggu sekali.”
Dari situlah, kemudian ia selalu istiqomah untuk mengkhatamkan Al-Qur’an setiap seminggu sekali. Bermula dari kebiasaan itu juga, kini pun diterapkan sebagai salah satu kegiatan wajib di Pondok Pesantren Hamalatul Qur’an (PPHQ) — pesantren yang kini ia dirikan, yang disebut dengan kegiatan muroqobah 5 juz-an.

Setelah menyelesaikan proses mengahafal Qur’an di Tebelo, ia melanjutkan pendidikannya di PPMQ Tebuireng untuk belajar qiro’ah muwahadah (bacaan yang disatukan) yang diajarkan langsung oleh KH. Muhammad Yusuf Masyhar. Qiroah muwahadah merupakan suatu metode pembelajaran membaca Al-Qu’ran dengan membentuk keserasian bacaan yang sesuai dengan ilmu tajwid.
PPMQ menjadi tempat pembelajaran terakhir bagi Kiai Yaqin dalam menimba ilmu, dengan status sebagai santri. Setelah dikatakan lulus PPMQ, ia melanjutkan syiarnya, dengan memulai pada masyarakat Jogoroto. Hal pertama yang ia lakukan adalah membuat majelis-majelis khotmil Qur’an, dan tarawih dengan menggunakan maqro’ khatam.
Kiai Yaqin merupakan sosok yang berpegang teguh pada riyadhoh-riyadhoh kiai sepuh ahlu sunnah. Ia juga istiqomah dalam tirakat dan qiyamul lail. Salah satu bentuk syiar terbesar kiai Yaqin ialah adanya Pondok HQ yang kental akan tradisi dan amaliyah Ulama’ NU.
Berdirinya Pondok HQ menjadi sebuah bentuk prasasti keikhlasan Kiai Yaqin dalam berjuang mensyiarkan Al-Qur’an. “Dulu saya bernazar, suatu saat nanti jikalau saya diberi rezeki lebih, saya akan mengratiskan orang yang menghafal Al-Qur’an,” jelasnya.
Dalam upaya mengratiskan pesantren, ia menyampaikan bahwasannya sosok Hadratussyaikh KH. Hasyim Asy’ari dan Kiai Yusuf lah yang menginspirasinya. Ia juga menjelaskan, bahwasannya dulu Pesantren Tebuireng dan PPMQ bersifat gratis tanpa biaya. “Saya selaku santri Tebuireng ya harus sedikit banyak meniru beliau-beliau,” katanya.

Karena kesederhanaan Kiai Yaqin, memudahkannya dalam mengkampanyekan Al-Qur’an kepada masyarakat. Syiarnya tidak hanya di tempat-tempat berbau religius. Ia juga menyampaikan gagasan-gagasan yang berkenaan dengan Al-Qur’an melalui warung-warung dan tempat-tempat tongkrongan.
Oleh sebab itu, tak heran, di usia PPHQ yang masih terbilang muda —11 tahun — sudah mampu mendirikan cabang dan unit yang berjumlah 10 asrama dan menjalin kemitraan dengan kurang lebih 60 lembaga.
Namun, tidak dapat di pungkiri pula, bahwa dalam perjuangannya, ada juga hambatan atau kendala. Realitanya, cemoohan dan hujatan, sekaligus tindakan profokatif dari sebagian masyarakat untuk menjatuhkan pesantren tetaplah ada.
Akan tetapi, hal tersebut sudah menjadi sego jangan bagi Kiai Yaqin yang sudah memiliki telinga tebal, mental baja dan tetap berpendirian teguh pada prinsipnya untuk mensyiarkan Al-Qur’an.
Dalam mendidik para santri, Kiai Yaqin pun berpesan, bahwa dalam berjuang mensyiarkan agama, janganlah memandang atau menghitung materi yang kita dapat, akan tetapi seberapa besar moral dan pembelajaran yang dapat kita ambil.
