Moderatpers.com – Rofiq, salah satu peternak sukses ikan koi dari Desa Bandung, Jombang berbagi cerita kepada anggota UKMP Moderat tentang pengalamannya dalam membudidayakan ikan koi pada Jumat, (17/12).
Rofiq menuturkan, bahwa profesinya saat ini bermula dari hobinya dalam merawat ikan. “Usaha ikan koi ini berawal dari hobi saya sekitar tahun 2010. Kemudian, saya mulai membudidayakannya pada tahun 2017,” jelasnya.
Selain karena hobi, keputusannya memilih untuk budi daya ikan koi karena harga jualnya yang cukup mahal dan jauh lebih tinggi jika dibandingkan dengan ikan hias air tawar lainnya.
Hal itu karena kualitas ikan koi memang sudah tidak di ragukan lagi. Mulai dari warna dan ornamennya yang cantik, yang menyebabkan ikan jenis ini menjadi salah satu komoditas ikan hias air tawar yang sampai saat ini masih menjadi primadona, baik di pasar lokal maupun internasional.
Benih ikan koi pertamanya berasal dari Blitar. Untuk membeli satu pasang ikan koi, Rofiq mengeluarkan modal awal sebesar Rp 600.000,-. Dari sepasang ikan koi itulah, kini ia sukses membudidayakan ikan yang memiliki nama ilmiah cyprinus rubrofuscus itu.
Untuk omsetnya saat ini, Rofiq tidak menyebutkan secara pasti. Namun, penghasilannya terbilang cukup menjanjikan.

Perawatan ikan koi pun terbilang cukup mudah, hanya membutuhkan peralatan aerator, pompa air, dan perlengkapan lain seperti budi daya ikan tawar lainnya.
Rofiq juga menjelaskan, bahwa tak selamanya untung dalam membudidayakan ikan koi. Keuntungan yang didapatkan pun berbeda-beda dan tak pasti.
“Setiap kali panen itu menghasilkan keuntungan yang berbeda-beda. Hal itu sesuai dengan kualitas ikannya. Kadang juga rugi karena ikannya mati,” jelasnya.
Penyebab utama kematian ikan koi sendiri disebabkan oleh virus ikan di peternakan. Selain itu, terkadang ikan koi yang baru datang tidak di karantina terlebih dahulu. Kualitas air yang kurang bagus pun dapat menyebabkan ikan koi mudah mati.
Untuk meminimalisir hal itu, Rofiq pun menggunakan kolam ubin. Setiap satu minggu sekali, ia juga rutin mengganti air. Untuk pengelolaan limbah airnya, ia membuangnya ke ladang yang luas. Sedangkan, endapan dari kolam tersebut dapat digunakan menjadi pupuk tanaman.

Ikan koi sudah dapat dipanen dalam jangka waktu satu setengah tahun, dan idealnya dalam jangka waktu dua tahun. Cara memanennya yaitu dengan cara disortir sesuai keinginan konsumen.
Namun sayang, permintaan ikan koi yang terus meningkat, membuat Rofiq dan peternak ikan koi lainnya kewalahan dan tak sanggup meningkatkan penawaran. Apalagi semenjak adanya pandemi, banyak masyarakat yang terdampak membutuhkan relaksasi, salah satunya dengan memelihara ikan koi.
“Semenjak pandemi ini permintaannya terus meningkat. Tapi sayangnya, kami (peternak ikan koi) kewalahan dan tidak bisa memenuhi permintaan yang tinggi itu,” tutupnya.
