Moderatpers.com – Jumlah sampah plastik di Indonesia semakin tahun terus menambah, dan menjadi momok permasalahan yang kian menjarah. Masyarakat membuang sampahnya kemana-mana, baik di darat maupun lautan.
Melihat kondisi sampah plastik yang semakin banyak, membuat Maftuhah Mustiqowati tergugah untuk memanfaatkannya menjadi kerajinan. Pengasuh Pondok Pesantren Mamba’ul Hikam Putri Desa Jatirejo Barat, Kecamatan Diwek, Kabupaten Jombang itu menerapkan program gerakan cinta lingkungan kepada santrinya.
Program itu menggunakan konsep ecobrick dan pengolahan jelantah (minyak goreng bekas). Ecobrik ialah proses daur ulang ramah lingkungan dengan memanfaatkan media botol plastik yang dipadatkan.
Agar menjadi padat, botol plastik itu diisi penuh dengan sampah anorganik bersih seperti sampah bungkus permen. Setelah padat, barulah botol di kreasikan menjadi beragam bentuk seperti meja, kursi, vigura, pot tanaman, rak buku/kitab, dan kerajinan lainnya.
Sebelum mengenalkan ecobrick, wanita yang akrab disapa Bu Nyai Ika itu rutin melakukan pendekatan kepada santrinya mengenai hukum fikih lingkungan.
“Simplenya manusia itu harus berfikir bahwa kita tinggal di bumi dan mati pun masuk ke dalam perut bumi. Menghormati itu bukan hanya kepada manusia, melainkan juga kepada makhluk lain. Caranya, ya dengan menjaga kelestarian bumi,” katanya, Selasa, (04/01).
Cara pertama yang ia terapkan ialah mewajibkan setiap santri untuk mengumpulkan sampah-sampah di lingkungan pesantren. Dari hal kecil, program yang ia gagas sejak 2017 itu kini terus membuahkan karya yang tak ternilai harganya.
Kerajinan yang ia kerjakan bersama santri-santrinya itupun di manfaatkan untuk menfasilitasi dan menghiasi pesantren. Tak jarang, ada juga wali santri dan donatur yang ikut membeli dengan harga yang cukup tinggi.

Ponpes Mamba’ul Hikam juga bekerjasama dengan Fakultas Kimia UIN Malang dan bank sampah di Jombang untuk memanfaatkan limbah jelantah. Jelantah yang sudah terkumpul, selanjutnya diolah menjadi sabun.
Karena keuletan dan kreatifitasnya itu, program ecobrick Ponpes Mamba’ul Hikam telah menggaet beragam penghargaan. Beberapa diantaranya ialah penghargaan Bupati Jombang 2015; penghargaan madrasah award kriteria lembaga mandiri berprestasi; dan sejumlah penghargaan lainnya baik tingkat provinsi maupun nasional.
“Harapan saya kepada para santri untuk tidak berhenti sampai disini. Ketika dia pulang nanti bisa mencintai bumi sepenuh hati dengan mengelola sampah sekitar menjadi barang yang bermanfaat,” tuturnya.
Jika banyak masyarakat yang menerapkan program ecobrick ini, Indonesia bisa menurunkan peringkat sebagai negara penghasil sampah plastik laut terbesar ke dua di dunia. Hal itu juga bisa terelasisasi, jika masyarakat sadar akan pentingnya menjaga bumi dengan tidak membuang sampah sembarangan dan menjaga kelestarian lingkungan.
